Who else hears this once a year?
I have not been a fan of that expression, or new year’s resolution for that matter. I feel like new year’s resolution is a joke and no one ever follows through. Maybe that is mean to say, but I know every year when I say I will do something (mostly workout, be more active, ect.) I NEVER follow through. Mostly because I set too high of standard for myself, as I feel others do as well.
I knew this year I wanted to make a change but did not know how. Reflecting on my year last year, I am not even close to being the person I want to be, and overall that’s not a good feeling. Like at all, ya know?
I was listening to a podcast on New Years’s day and it was talking about making a change every month to help us work on ourselves each month to better ourselves. I decided then that I am going to do this, and really encourage anyone else to do it. Instead of making one commitment for the year that you will more than likely give up on, you’re doing little, attainable goals each month. And this is something I am here for.
From the podcast, the goal for January is to make your bed first thing in the morning. Now this is something I do on the week days for the most part. However, I usually did it later in the day or before I went to work. So I’m making an effort to do it first thing. Now I know that’s an easy goal to achieve this month (hence the lazy girl lifestyle guide) and a good way to ease into the rest of the year. So if we can do this little easy thing this month, we can get through the rest of the year. Another goal I have been wanting to do for a while was to start blogging again. I use to have a blog way back in the day… something I may get into another day, but I really enjoy writing and getting my thoughts down. Even if no one reads this but me, it has always helped me through my rough patches in life. So here I am.
New year, new me.
P.S. the podcast I listen to is Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe. 🙂
